SPORTS MEDICINE IN PALMA
Doctors and physiotherapists working together to achieve the best results.
Teamwork
Since the beginning of Fisioplanet, doctors and physiotherapists have always worked together for the good of our patients. Sports physiotherapy represents a challenge for us, the fact of helping our athletes to achieve their goals and objectives, in order to expand and improve the service in the area of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
We have a medical team made up of specialists in sports medicine, emergency medicine and radiology trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound, a tool that will provide us with an optimal diagnosis and support in monitoring the evolution of the patient in acute processes such as muscle ruptures, the famous tennis leg or frequent ankle sprains.
Who is sports medicine for?
Any sportsperson who has suffered an acute trauma and needs assessment and treatment guidance. For example: serious contusions, ankle or knee sprains, torn knee ligaments, meniscal tears, muscle ruptures…
Any athlete who needs an initial assessment or sports medical check-up in order to evaluate their general state of health and wants to improve their performance.
What are sports medicine sessions based on?
Medical consultation
A 30-minute session consisting of an initial ultrasound assessment from which a treatment plan is created and the athlete is referred to the appropriate professional; normally to the rehabilitation service for acute injuries, to the readaptation service in the final stages prior to returning to sport or to surgical specialists if surgery is the last option.
After the first session, follow-up sessions can be scheduled for the same duration and price until the injury is resolved and the athlete is discharged.
Musculoskeletal ultrasound
You may be on a waiting list with your insurance or social security pending an ultrasound scan or you may go to another centre where you have been recommended to have an ultrasound scan to obtain more information and be able to make a diagnosis.
In either case, make an appointment for an ultrasound scan at our centre and you will be able to have a radiological report with the images and thus complete your medical history.
We assess all types of musculoskeletal injuries: muscle ruptures, sprains, tendinopathies, inguinal hernias and abdominal hernias.
Cooperative work with other professionals
This service will not only be limited to care and treatment, but will also coordinate cooperative work with other professionals of reference for the centre
- Surgeons, traumatologists specialising in the different body regions from which patients come to us or from which we ourselves refer patients to evaluate possible surgery.
- Other medical specialists, e.g. cardiologists in patients where an echocardiogram is deemed appropriate in case of suspected pathology during a stress test.
- Physiotherapists and re-trainers, either from Fisioplanet or external. For the management of acute injuries and post-surgical rehabilitation processes such as muscle ruptures, ankle sprains or knee ligament ruptures.
- Dieticians-Nutritionists when dietary alterations or altered analytical values are observed in which nutritional monitoring and recommendations are necessary.
